is the Platform Operations Engineer’s responsibility to support 24x7 operations of our production Azure cloud environments by working within a multi-skilled Ops team to ensure platform availability and underlying resources are correctly configured and maintained throughout their lifecycle.

In this position, you will work alongside the platform engineering and customer support teams, consulting with other team members to extend your reach, acquire in-depth knowledge of the application and underlying platform, while providing support to both internal and external platform and application users.

Duties and responsibilities

You understand the constraints and opportunities presented by cloud computing technologies and how they can be leveraged to improve on operational delivery and customer solutions. Solid technical fundamentals allow you to grasp the complexity of a problem and make good decisions when data might be incomplete or ambiguous.

You have proven knowledge of Virtualization, Automation and Cloud Computing (Microsoft Azure Cloud IaaS and PaaS Services), be knowledgeable about Windows and Linux servers, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Integration Services, Microsoft Reporting Services administration as well as VPN’s and networking.
You are willing and able to take ownership of service requests and or issues logged by customers and drive them to resolution.
Your key duties will be focused on support, incident response, management of the platform resources and implementation of the technological changes designed by the platform development team.
As a candidate for this position you should be able to work a regular Monday-Friday daytime shift with the possibility of being on-call after hours or during weekends if needed.

Must have

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science discipline
3 years plus of experience as a system administrator over cloud applications with Microsoft Azure or a similar engineering experience
Strong fundamentals with networking, internet protocols, storage, virtual computing, operating systems and security
Solid knowledge of Linux, Windows, SQL Server , IIS, Apache, Nginx, REDIS.
Comfortable using core DevOps tools such as GIT, ADO, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Jira and Confluence
Strong Linux/Windows scripting using Shell, Powershell, Python, Curl as well as SQL and Kusto query languages
Keen eye with strong visual attention for details
Fluent in English (written and spoken); any other language is a plus
Also nice to have:

Exposure to DevOps culture & Agile methodology experience, working with small agile teams
Web Services & API integrations using REST, XML, JSON, YAML
Knowledge of Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana/Grafana
