As a DevOps Engineer within Hiscox your primary focus is to be a key and influential member of our London Market Infrastructure and DevOps Chapter offering dedicated support to our various Innovation squads as we create new "Cloud First" solutions to add value to the business

Key Responsibilities within your day to day role will include

  • Creating and maintaining the pipelines for publishing code to Azure as well as maintaining the Azure infrastructure over all environments
  • Supporting, overseeing and coaching squads in intra-day deployments mechanisms
  • Driving the DevOps principles and culture across London Market squads inclusive of coaching and influencing engineers to DevOps maturity
  • You will oversee and direct the vendor DevOps teams and other Infrastructure resources
  • Proposing, implementing and monitoring performance, commoditisation, improvements and time-saving initiatives across the London Market Chapters and Cloud Services
  • Create and maintain monitoring at all levels (infrastructure, app, data)
  • Monitor issues across Infrastructure, App, Data and Availability and ensure appropriate escalation paths are utilised
  • Implement auto-scaling of resources to meet the needs of the moment
  • Identify engineering limits, bottlenecks and tipping points before they're reached

Skills we expect you to have to be suitable for our position include:

  • Experience of working as a DevOps engineer, working on solutions in Azure or hybrid cloud. Preferably with Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with Terraform and Azure Resource Management Templates
  • Experience setting up and working with Puppet and Azure DevOps pipelines
  • Knowledge of Cloud native, microservices, containerized systems, preferably with Microsoft Azure
  • To have a strong desire for continuous improvement and an Agile way of working
