About the job

As a DevOps Engineer in the Analytics Research and Development Division, you will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and maintaining mission critical DevOps software for our analytics products. You will collaborate closely with our cross-functional teams of data scientists, analytic developers, frontend developers, and testers in order to support our DevOps infrastructure that enables teams to deliver highly performant and secure quality software.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will:

  • Obtain a working knowledge of the Viya 4.0 Analytic solutions architecture across different layers such as UI, API, CAS, and integration points into the larger Viya 4.0 ecosystem.
  • Understand the CI/CD pipeline as implemented by SAS.
  • Work collaboratively with development, product, operations, and peers to maintain the health of the build pipeline.
  • Collaboratively develop tools and integrate processes for real-time monitoring of systems for reducing or eliminating repetitive or manual tasks, improving health and performance issues and streamlining bug identification.
  • Practice effective techniques for deploying and operating SAS software in a multi-cloud environment
  • Challenge the status quo every day and never stop improving quality engineering practices.
  • Protect customers from escaped defects.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of enterprise experience in software development and / or automated testing.
  • Able to use debugging techniques to narrow down failures within the system including viewing critical logs, examining system metrics, and understanding multi-tiered solutions.
  • Comfortable working with web based microservices, REST interfaces, and the OpenAPI specification.
  • Proficient building CI/CD pipelines with tools such as: Jenkins and Gradle.
  • Proficient in multiple programming languages such as: Python and Groovy.
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as: Bash.
  • Proficient with source control management techniques in Git including branching, merging and pull requests.
  • Comfortable with container and container orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Working knowledge of at least one public cloud interface: Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Preferred qualifications

  • Familiar with GitHub tools, such as GitHub Actions, a plus.
  • Familiar with Java and Go programming languages.
  • Knowledge of open-source test automation frameworks: Groovy, Spock, and Pytest.
  • Familiar with Infrastructure as Code (IAC) cloud provisioning tools such as Terraform.
  • Familiar with site reliability engineering (SRE) and observability tools such as: Datadog, Kibana, Grafana, and Prometheus used for real-time monitoring of application and systems with Kubernetes.
  • Familiar with producing and leveraging DevOps and SRE metrics for continuous improvement.
  • Familiar with CI/CD tools such as: Spinnaker and Argo.
  • Familiar with security tools such as: PRISMA, Snyk, and ZAP.
  • Familiar with performance tools such as: JMeter.
  • Experience with SCRUM, Retrospectives, and other agile processes that enable a rapidly changing environmen
